Mentor Program
The CFP Mentor Program pairs Black engineering students and early-career professionals with experienced mentors across Central Florida. Whether you’re finishing a degree, landing your first role, or changing careers, you’ll be matched with someone who has walked the path.
WHO IT SERVES — Collegiate students · Early-career professionals (0–5 years) · Career changers moving into STEM
WHAT YOU COMMIT TO — Mentors and mentees meet at least once a month for a six-month cohort.

If you’re a collegiate NSBE member, an engineer in your first five years, or a professional moving into STEM from another field — yes. You don’t need to be senior to mentor. You only need to be a few steps ahead of someone else.

Plan on one 30–60 minute conversation per month for six months.

Applications close September 12. We match on discipline, goals, and availability, then announce pairings September 26. The cohort opens October 6 with a group kickoff, and you’ll get an intro email to your match before then.

Chapter dues $50 / year · status: Active
DUES STATUS — Active. Chapter dues are paid through March 14, 2027. You’ll get a renewal reminder 30 days out; renew early to keep mentor-program eligibility unbroken.

Heads up: your NSBE National membership and your CFP chapter membership are separate. Paying national dues does not renew your chapter membership, and vice versa — keep both current to stay eligible for the mentor program, member events, and chapter scholarships.
MEMBER BENEFITS — what dues get you that non-members don’t: mentor program eligibility, members-only PD workshops and socials, the member directory, chapter scholarship eligibility, priority career-fair access, and leadership and committee roles.

OPEN LEADERSHIP ROLES — Secretary, Programs Chair, and Fundraising Chair are open for the 2027 board. Applications close January 16, 2027.
